You can still attend traditional lectures and meetings as
before. In the past there has been little evidence that this kind of educational
activity improves or changes practice.
But if you reflect on the
content of that meeting, record issues raised, review the way the practice looks
after patients or perform an audit then you can use this as part of your
personal development
- As ever the key factors or recording and
reflection (hopefully showing an improved outcome for patients, practice or
self)
- Use the template in the toolkit to
summarise the meeting( you may include within the toolkit a reference to, or a
copy of your lecture notes, handouts etc).
- Do not record everything that you did,
that is simply a record of attendance rather than learning.
- Rather, record new things that you have
learnt and reflect on any outcome
- Try and choose lectures based on
educational needs cf wants
- May be within the practice or outside. Formal or
informal, try to be multidisciplinary
- Arrange mini-lectures within your practice
