PEP-2000 offers a set of interactive self-assessment programs on 2 CD-ROMs - CD1 Medical and CD2 Primary Care. Each CD contains a series of up to date and instructive programs on a range of primary health care related subjects including sample questions from the MRCGP examination.

CD 1 - MEDICAL

This CD consists of programs which will be of interest mainly to medically qualified members of the primary health care team. The MRCGP program consists of sample questions from Paper 2 of the MRCGP examination and may be of interest to GP trainers and hospital SHOs as well as potential examination candidates

CD 2 - PRIMARY CARE

This CD consists of programs which will be useful and interesting not only for medical staff but also the primary health care team as a whole. There are two programs written for and by practice nurses and another for practice managers. The programs on Family Planning, Dementia and Public Health will all be valuable for nurses and health visitors, and Legal Medicine contains important information and advice for practice managers and administrators as well as for general practitioners.

Each program consists of a set of Multiple Choice or Single Best Answer Questions and a series of Patient Management Problems, which can be completed at one sitting or separately, and you will have the opportunity to choose which section to look at first. At the end of each program you will be asked to print out your own scores, and these will be attached to a PGEA Application Form. Even if you do not wish to apply for PGEA points, we would strongly encourage you to return the forms so that your scores can be used (anonymously) to update the peer score table which will be available on the RCGP website.

All the programs can be used to identify your own strengths and weaknesses. You may find it useful to start with General Practice I as this program covers many areas of general practice, and the score at the end of the MCQ section is broken down into subject areas.
