The Essex Electronic Library for Health (EEL) is intended to provide the Essex healthcare community with convenient online access to high-quality local and national sources of health-related information.

The site is aimed at staff working in any aspect of healthcare, within any organisation in Essex. It is not intended for use by patients or the general public.

EEL is the result of the amalgamation of the North Essex Library Services Online (NELSON) and South Essex electronic Library for Health (SEeLH) websites. Its development is supported by the Essex Healthcare Librarians Group.

EEL aims to:

• Provide information on health library facilities across Essex, including information skills training sessions
• Facilitate access to national electronic resources, including the Core Content databases and journals
• Provide links to a selection of quality-assessed materials to assist healthcare workers with their practice and professional development
• Guide users along  information "pathways": steps to finding information for a particular purpose - e.g. writing an essay, finding statistics, or keeping up-to-date.
