Access to up-to-date and accurate information is crucial to the delivery of high quality healthcare. Our libraries are an integral part of the local clinical governance infrastructure and support:

·         evidence-based practice

·         training and continuing education

·         research and development

·         healthcare management

·         health improvement and public health

Core Services

All libraries have skilled staff who can help in your search for evidence. Most libraries also offer:

Electronic Resources

Libraries provide easy access to a growing collection of databases, full-text electronic journals and other resources.  These are available at any time, from work or home, via the Internet.

Ask your local healthcare library for a password.

Databases include:

From the databases there are links to the articles in hundreds of e-journals.

Training

Libraries provide FREE training in using the databases and other electronic resources, including the National Electronic Library for Health and the Cochrane Library. Formats include on-line tutorials, hands-on workshops, and training sessions tailored for staff groups or individuals.

Ask your local healthcare library for details of training currently offered.

Alternatively, contact Andy Parrett (see over for details): he is the Library Skills Training Facilitator for Norfolk and Suffolk and organizes many of the training sessions mentioned above. If getting to the library is difficult, training can be arranged in the workplace.
